Working With Personality Traits In The Workplace

From a biological perspective, identity and personality are again thrust under the microscope. According to “The Hidden Brain”, the unconscious brain processes and decides many things “for us”. That is, the brain does a lot of decision making and processing on an unconscious level (Vedantam, Introduction).

Richard Dawkins takes this argument even further in his book “The Selfish Gene”, saying that it is actually our microbiology– our genes themselves– that drive our behaviors. In this early work of his, he argues that many aspects of personality and behavior are strictly determined by biology. Our genes want to survive, and humans form and act in ways that facilitate that very thing.
