Searching For Information On Why Visceral Fat Is Scary

Everyone has fat, some more than others. Fat is stored under the skin in your abdomen, hips, buttocks and thighs. It is also stored deeper within your body around the digestive organs, heart and liver. The former is called subcutaneous fat while the latter, visceral fat.

As you gain weight and this is likely as you grow older or have more babies, you get more subcutaneous and visceral fat.

Having excess visceral fat is bad because it leads to metabolic syndrome, some types of cancer and even dementia.

If a woman’s waist measures more than 35 inches, she has high levels of visceral fat and is at high risk of developing the above diseases.
