Calisthenics is the practice of bodyweight-based exercise training. Its use is prevalent throughout all movement systems: from dance, yoga and martial arts, to modern sports, gymnastics and fitness trends like bootcamps and Crossfit.

Calisthenics is a very good way of training for men and women, young and old, because it primarily builds relative strength and not absolute strength.

Absolute strength, as it’s name suggests, is the maximum force someone can exert. You train it by picking up heavier and heavier weights.
